Parker Monhollon (July 26, 2007 - July 10, 2017)

This page is dedicated to Parker Monhollon and all innocent children who died of DIPG and other terrible diseases or other causes (like a severe asthma attack in Laurel's case). Parker was very brave and fought courageously against DIPG (an incurable brain tumour) until the end. She had her own YouTube channel, where her last video is "Tips to Look Good and Feel Good". Her motto was "Parker loves life".

She was a great dancer, and sadly one of the first symptoms of DIPG is loss of balance/equilibrium, with many children unable to even stand on their legs.

We hope you can dance in a better world now, Parker!

Sadly, children die of horrible illnesses every day, so we are not able to draw them all, but you can follow the stories of DIPG angels here.

A few stories...

Avery died in her mother's arms on Mother's Day. There is a touching video on YouTube recording the moment when she left this world.

Christi was a brave girl with multiple talents (she was also a member of Mensa) and a passion for sports. She also raised over $12,000 for cancer research by making and selling lemonade (of course this was before 2006 and would be much more today). She battled brain cancer (not DIPG) for almost half of her life (since she was 5).

Ruby was another little girl full of life, beautiful both within and without, like all these wonderful warriors. Read her story, and also more about DIPG, here.

Gabriella was a wonderful cancer advocate who raised over $300,000 for childhood cancer, founded her own website called Smashing Walnuts to find a cure for childhood brain cancer, co-authored a children's book on cancer and was also a public speaker.

Evie was another DIPG warrior and a very talented painter. One of her paintings sold at a charity auction for $100,000 after her death. The proceedings will be used for DIPG research. Thank you, Evie, for creating such a masterpiece while fighting your battle against DIPG, and thank you to Jo Kinghorn too, who was the highest bidder.

Avalanna was a huge fan of Justin Bieber, and when he heard of his young fan dying of cancer he flew her and her family to New York on Valentine's Day and married her in a pretend ceremony. That's why Avalanna is also known as "Mrs. Bieber".

Erin made history through her participation in a gene therapy trial and in 2013 received a Children's Week Award for her advocacy work in raising childhood cancer awareness. By a coincidence, Marie drew her on the very day Erin was diagnosed with DIPG (the day, not the year of course).

Lucille was a child actress in the silent film era. Sie died of tuberculosis.

Hayley suffered from progeria, a rare condition causing accelerated aging. She was an author and activist who spread awareness about her condition.

Shiloh was born with Mermaid Syndrome (Sirenomelia). Her legs were conjoined in a way similar to a mermaid. She died from complications from pneumonia.

Edna died of the Spanish Flu.

And who does not remember the sweet little girl of Poltergeist? Heather sadly passed away at the age of 12 of congenital stenosis of the intestine complicated by septic shock. The little girl at the end of Poltergeist III is not Heather, as she passed away before the end of the filming.
Thank you, Marie, for contributing in such a wonderful way to DIPG research, including in your Last Will!
