  • Genius is thunder and sunshine at the same time.

  • Laughter is a medicine. Like all medicines, it can be bitter.

  • Signposts can be maliciously turned around.

  • Happy memories are fair-weather friends.

  • If you cannot reach the stars, use a telescope.

  • Genius is in the eye of the beholder.

  • Dare the unthinkable. It might become thinkable.

  • Dreams are like good wine. If you don’t savour them in due time, they turn into vinegar.

  • Two heads think better than one, but if in doubt, choose your own.

  • I'll get there because it's my destiny.

  • You need a damn good reason to be here, and as there are not many, cling to whatever reason you find...

  • Sometimes genius comes in disguise.

  • I don't want to serve humanity at large. I want to serve the good in humanity.

  • Be happy with what you have and fight for what you love.

  • Success is the touchstone for friendship.

  • Just a little bit of love can work wonders sometimes.

  • Every day some people live, some people die, and in between there are billions who don't ask why.

  • Little x (just an employee) asked big Y (his employer) if he could have a chat with him about life and its meaning instead of a salary. He was fired on the spot and declared officially insane.

  • Sometimes you just need suspenders for your mouth.

  • There is no worse death than to die of life.

  • My philosophy of life: bah!

  • I find this world a funnier and funnier place to be, but not necessarily in a positive way.

  • Never let others tell you who you are or what you want.

  • Your dreams count.

  • Your life is your copyright.

  • Don't try to be nice. Try to be good.

  • "But...", said Determination. "But what?", retorted Fate.

  • Never be grateful for what you have based on other people's misfortunes.

  • Behind a smile there can be an ocean of sadness.

  • Beware of those who claim to have many friends. They don't know what true friendship is.

  • Seize the moment before it seizes you.

  • Life is a symphony. With some talent and a little bit of practice you can even have a part in it.

  • Beware of those who claim to know the truth.

  • A friend who only appreciates you for the things he has in common with you is no real friend.

  • Make sure you don't have earplugs on when Luck knocks on your door.

  • Intelligence is a seed. If you don't water it, it is useless.

  • What you think of yourself has a greater impact on your life than what others think of you.

  • There is no worse fear than the fear of hope.

  • Power is temporary, but the consequences of abuse of power can be permanent.

  • Giftedness is a blessing if you meet the right people, a curse if you don't.

  • What happens in your life doesn't always depend on you; how you deal with it depends entirely on you.

  • Pride and arrogance are never a sign of superiority.

  • Art is about emotions, not beauty.

  • Helping others just because will only brighten your day.

  • It's OK to be weird in a world of robots.

  • Think before you adapt.

  • You might be here for a purpose, but you have to find it yourself. They have no idea.

  • It is difficult not to feel sorry for people full of hatred.

  • It should be against the law to force people to accept injustice.

  • Don't pray for the unfortunate. Do something.

  • If the ups and downs of life make you dizzy, take an elevator.

  • Real friendship begins when you don't want to have just fun with the other person.

  • The world has never (or very seldom) improved or progressed through acceptance.

  • When you have been hurt again and again in life, sometimes you reach a point where you are afraid of liking or loving anything for fear that it is taken away from you.

  • If you always wear an armour, you won't feel the morning breeze on your face.

  • A seed doesn't know anything about DNA, but it happily grows into the plant that is its destiny.

  • A silent bird can have a beautiful song in its heart.

  • Yes, I have dreams with broken wings. They can't fly, but they still rejoice in the sun.

  • Homo homini lupus - apparently first said in 195 BC, and nothing has changed since then!

  • Illusions are harder to die than reason. Whether this is a good thing or not is not clear.

  • If the blossom thought too much about the right way to become a flower, it would probably never grow.

  • There is nothing more dangerous than a person who has always been unknown and then suddenly has power.

  • Even a single star in the night sky can make the heart happy.

  • How can anyone feel better just because they know that others are worse off?

  • Never be ashamed of something that is not your fault.

  • The hatred of unworthy people doesn't really matter; actually it is almost an honour.

  • The problem with arrogant people is that you never know if they are arrogant because they really feel superior or if they are trying to conceal their inferiority complex behind the mask of arrogance.

  • Believe whatever you want to believe, but don't force anybody to believe whatever you want to believe.

  • Look for me in the room where nobody else is.

  • The sun also rises behind clouds.

  • I fear crowds because they make me feel so lonely.

  • I came. I saw. I turned around because it was not worth it.

  • When the Muse refuses to talk, tickle her!

  • The battle is with yourself, and the stakes are high.

  • Roots are hidden, and not pretty - yet without them the tree dies.

  • You understand if you have a true friend and if there is indeed something in the treasure chest when you have an unexpected success. If there is something in the treasure chest, it will glitter even more; if the treasure chest is empty, dust will blow into your face.

  • Sometimes it's the least noticeable things that make the heart happy.

  • When you see the moon reflected on the trees of the dark forest, you know you that are not alone.

  • When a small hand grasps a big hand they are the same size.

  • If only we could learn to live side by side - people of all colours and shapes - like the flowers in a garden, the world would just be a better place.

  • Never let anybody tell you that your dreams won't come true. What do they know?

  • If you want to live life to the full, you don't just open the window a little bit - you open both panes so wide they hit the wall - and you breathe as deep as you can.

  • The really lucky people are those who know what to do with their bad luck.

  • The secret of happiness is not pushing too hard to be happy.

  • True friendship is not found in common fun, but in common sorrow.

  • Those who are silent may be too wise to share their thoughts. Those who are loud may not know what they are talking about.

  • ... And when the last cloud is gone you realize that untarnished beauty can be overwhelmingly boring.

  • Sometimes the past should just be forgotten, but its megalomania and desperate need for attention may complicate things just a little bit.

  • Don't wait until somebody is dead to show your appreciation.

  • You are free not to think, but you are not free to tell others not to think.

  • A baby born on a dump is just as worthy of love as a baby born of nobility.

  • In order to succeed in life, you have to be like an HB pencil - not too soft and not too hard.

  • A bare seed is not so extraordinarily beautiful, but it treasures an extraordinary power under its fragile shell.

  • Some people's path to success is nothing else than flattering those who have power (who subsequently give them power too). In reality this is the apex of their failure.

  • Parents who want clones of themselves in their children should not have children.

  • There are times when even a rough, wrinkled hand feels as smooth as silk when it gives you comfort.

  • If you don't eat a fruit when it's fresh, it will develop worms. The same applies to opportunities. If you wait too long, they will not only be lost - they will be dust.

  • When nobody believes in you, do your best to prove them wrong.

  • Handle the moment with care. The supplier didn't include a warranty.

  • Tiny hands can handle flowers better than big hands.

  • The curse of genius is the curse of being different in a world of clones.

  • Too much happiness inebriates us, and we overlook little joys. Likewise we can't see many details of the moon's surface when it is full and at its brightest.

  • In order to strive for survival, you first have to wish to survive.

  • Pebbles on the path - they'll show you the way in moonlight.

  • In the age of communication frenzy people have mostly nothing to say.

  • You won't see the sun on the other side until you demolish the barriers of the "I" and "mine" with the hammer of love.

  • I am, therefore I suffer. I suffer because I am.

  • Sometimes you just need a hand, and it doesn't matter how big or small it is.

  • A hug today may save you regrets tomorrow.

  • Postponing to say "sorry" may make you really sorry one day.

  • Without the moon there would be less poetry.

  • Shooting the harbinger of truth doesn't make the truth less true.

  • Better forgiveness today than regrets tomorrow.

  • I am, therefore I suffer. I die, therefore I fly.

  • In order to shine like a star, you have to be surrounded by darkness.

  • A natural flower pushing through concrete is worth more than an artificial flower in a flowerbed.

  • Cardboard dreams collapse when wetted with tears, but steel dreams will withstand tears and time.

  • The moon chases away the sun, but lives on its splendour.

  • Better to think outside the box than to suffocate in the box.

  • Paint the bars of the jail of life with the colours of the rainbow.

  • Question: What's the deal with being like everybody else? Answer: It doesn't require thinking.

  • Being normal sounds so... uh, average?

  • If you reject or ignore the cocoon, you will never see the butterfly.

  • A dirty hand might be more valuable than a smooth, perfumed hand.

  • Life is a swing. Somebody must push it for you. Or you have to jump off, push it yourself and jump back on it before it stops.

  • There is a reason for everything, like why the sky is blue, or why stars twinkle, but sometimes it is nice to let imagination fly high anyway.

  • Wouldn't it be nice if we could switch off the TV of life, look out of the window and breathe? But they have hidden the remote control, removed the buttons, sealed doors and windows... And the noise goes on and on... And it doesn't help to stop your ears. You are a prisoner and they will punish you if you try to escape.

  • The glass can never be totally full because if it were its contents would spill over.

  • They say you cannot know what light is without darkness, but for some people there has only been darkness, so they cannot make the comparison.

  • Your will matters.

  • Luck is a balloon. Don't let it go for a sec, or it will be gone forever.

  • Never make a habit of mere survival.

  • Fate is often in the habit to tip the scales away from justice.

  • When karma comes back to you like a boomerang, make sure it hits you in the right place.

  • There is a time for everything, but occasionally time just shows its age and forgets things.

  • Dreams without wings are worse than Tantalus' torment.

  • The more we try to find a reason for living, the more we fail. That's why fools are so happy.

  • The best way to live is to ditch survival for the real thing.

  • The questions that bother the mind are worse than the questions that bother the heart because the heart is more open to compromises.

  • Better an outsider today than a slave tomorrow.

  • Silver lining, then dark again. And some had not even noticed the silver lining!

  • Don't let necessity kill your dreams.

  • And just when you thought you had finally found some peace, life hits you on the head again.

  • True friends are rarer and rarer, and finding one is even more precious than finding a treasure. It is like finding the only real gold coin in a treasure chest.

  • The blossom is not ashamed of being tiny.

  • Fate is whimsical alright, but for some its whims are just an excuse.

  • Some people chase money in the city, while others chase happiness in nature.

  • Thinking can be challenging. That's why so many people prefer not to think.

  • Life would be a black hole without the power of imagination.

  • What is normality but conformity of soul embracing circumstances?

  • The world is a circus, so be a clown if you want to fit in.

  • Stretch out your hand to help, not to strike.

  • As Yeats said, a line of poetry will take hours to understand. Its message, I will add, should last forever.

  • The consequences of a second may last until the end of your life.

  • Dare to be yourself before somebody else copies you.

  • Sometimes indifference is just bottled-up rage.

  • Only because tomorrow is uncertain it doesn't mean you shouldn't do your best today.

  • I am different. I don't fit it. And I enjoy it.

  • There are so many little thoughts kicking and punching like mad in my mind that sometimes I fear brain damage.

  • Gold can be hidden in mud.

  • Wisdom is a combination of age, insight and aha-moments.

  • If there is a song in you, let it come out, no matter how out of tune it is.

  • Memories are like horses. Sometimes they are recalcitrant and rear up at the back of your mind, but sometimes they run off wildly, mane in the air, and you are finally free.

  • Some people cannot accept that if they say a couple of random nice words they don't even feel, those who are unwell will not magically feel better, and they are even offended if this doesn't happen (their ego is in the way).

  • When all has been said and done, insert a full stop, not a colon or a semi-colon, let alone a comma.

  • Caught between this and that - life.

  • The heart has its reasons that reason does not understand, and reason has its reasons about which the heart does not want to reason.

  • Inclusion is a word. Love is a word. Together they conquer the world.

  • Balloons are pretty, but sooner or later they explode. Rocks are not pretty, but they are safe and steady.

  • Why hatred spreads quicker than love is truly puzzling, but maybe it says something about human nature.

  • Your dreams are your property, and nobody is authorized to mess around with them.

  • A dream in the pocket is better than a grey life on the table.

  • If a friend dumps you because of your success, your success is even greater than before. You are a star.

  • Only because they don't like to hear the truth, it doesn't mean that you shouldn't speak up. Don't let them intimidate you.

  • If you have life in your hand, don't open your palm to shake hands with traitors.

  • If you are hungry for love, hardly any charity or soup kitchen will be able to help you.

  • Better one single true friend in a lifetime than scores of new false friends every day.

  • Think before you bully. Think before you abuse. There is more to murder than pulling the trigger yourself.

  • Memorials and eulogies are pretty much useless to the person you didn't help or love while alive.

  • It is never too early to make someone feel loved. However, sometimes it might be too late.

  • It is better to be a genuine yourself than a fake somebody else.

  • Live and let live. This means other people's differences, religion, sexual orientation, interests etc. are none of your business!

  • Quite often the most saintly people outside are the most devilish inside. It's a weird world!

  • Grey matter matters.

  • The sun is easier to look at and to admire at sunrise and sunset. Likewise, it is easier to achieve detachment and peace of mind away from the fuss of the world and wild emotions.

  • I have a confession to make: I still feel like clapping my hands when I see the moon.

  • The truth hurts like a thorn or a splinter in the skin. It takes courage to pull it out, but once it's out, it's a relief.

  • If visions have chosen you, there is a reason.

  • Never accept to be what others want you to be without proper evaluation.

  • Ignorance keeps the world going, but not in a good way.

  • You are with your beautiful self 24/7, so you know yourself better than anybody else knows you. Trust yourself!

  • Hand in hand with Freedom, I'll get there.

  • What doesn't kill you makes you stronger. This might be true, but quite often events do kill us - whether within or without, so a bit of caution is appropriate. Never assume that people will "get over it".

  • Always sing your song, even if out of tune. Better your song out of tune than their song in tune.

  • Birds with clipped wings can still climb up trees.

  • The stars are dead, the sky is not blue, the moon is just a boring rock... What a drag! Keep dreaming, mate, keep dreaming! Reality sucks big time.

  • Normality has rarely been a ticket to success.

  • Love and understand no questions asked.

  • You can listen to a singing bird even in prison.

  • Temporary defeat can be followed by a permanent victory.

  • People have stopped asking for whom the bell tolls. They don't even hear it toll any more.

  • Respecting opinions doesn't mean submitting to them.

  • Visions need daring. Daring needs visions.

  • People with special needs are special people.

  • Chew only the right amount, and chew it thoroughly.

  • Sometimes we hurt because we are afraid of being hurt. A very silly thing to do of course.

  • Kindness is less contagious than hatred, but far more powerful.

  • Some people look at appearances because thinking is too much of an effort for them.

  • Life is a farce. Either you laugh or you sink.

  • One day the tears will stop flowing, not because they have no reason to be, but because they got tired of trying to convey a message that was not understood.

  • The consciousness of pain is worse than the pain itself.

  • Aha-moments are cherries in the cereal bowl of life.

  • The more you think, the more you suffer. The more you suffer, the more you think.

  • Those who want to destroy your self-confidence know that without self-confidence you won't succeed. Don't let them win!

  • Keep singing until your voice is hoarse.

  • You know what you want. Don't listen to "them".

  • Loving those who hate us is more difficult than loving those who love us, but far more rewarding.

  • Flowers choose nature to bloom, and so do I.

  • We have the duty to listen to broken dreams fighting to survive in spite of all.

  • Humans are the only animals who can hate for no reason at all.

  • Fate is just a word to avoid responsibilities, although admittingly it is not quite innocent either.

  • Dreams have wings. Nightmares have wings and crawls.

  • Don't fix what is not broken. Don't break what cannot be fixed.

  • Not all that shines is gold, and not all that is (as precious as) gold shines.

  • Copies are less precious than originals. That's why we are all precious for who we are, not for trying to be somebody else.

  • Don't lock the door before making sure you know where you put the key.

  • We are born human, but we lose our humanity as we grow up.

  • Climb up to your goal as if they were chasing you.

  • If all people were the same, the world would be as boring as a pizza base without condiment.

  • To love and to expect to be loved in return is human. To love without second thoughts is divine.

  • You should always fight for justice - if not for yourself, for others who might be affected by the same injustice if nobody does anything.

  • It is better to run barefoot on the unmowed meadow of madness than to sit in a windowless room in the straightjacket of normality.

  • You know you are doing things right when more and more people think you are weird.

  • Some people seem to have forgotten that we all originate from the big bang.

  • Society wants us to be all the same because outsiders question the status quo.

  • Solidarity could so improve the world, but people just don't get it.

  • For society, sanity is what keeps it going for its own benefit.

  • Sometimes we are far too busy with ourselves to notice life.

  • Without paying attention to our basic needs there is no survival, but without paying attention to our higher needs there is no life.

  • When our dreams are shattered, it is like when leaves are brutally ripped off a tree. Just like leaves grow back on a tree, our dreams should resurrect more beautiful than ever after being challenged.

  • Angels don't need wings.

  • Dreams are our children; alternatives our stepchildren.

  • Too many tears can make the heart bitter; bottled-up anger can make the heart explode.

  • The grief of "staring" is often the most painful.

  • Sorry you just want to be normal. Maybe it will pass. Good luck!

  • The power of forgiveness is the power of oblivion with some added frills.

  • To bully the disadvantaged is evil beyond comprehension, even considering the circumstances.

  • Love does not need reasons; hatred does not need excuses.

  • Treasure things that die - because they won't last forever.

  • Sometimes the thought that this world might be a mirror image (the opposite) of paradise or any other fair dimension is compelling.

  • Poets are the mediators of feelings that cannot speak for themselves.

  • Never tell anybody about your problems if you are not absolutely certain that they are real friends.

  • Say hello to Death and good-bye to Sorrow.

  • Life is what we make of it, but sometimes a bit of help is OK, and even necessary.

  • Normality? Bah!

  • Blind acceptance is unacceptable.

  • Help without love is worse than throwing a bone to a dog.

  • Never ever expect people with a disability and many abilities to humbly confess how unlucky they are.

  • If only we could be as carefree as the birds, who greet the morning without a particular reason...

  • After many years of caring too much, one day we suddenly stop caring and just stare at life without understanding.

  • How can our destiny be in the stars if they exploded thousands of years ago?

  • One day the wind will change direction. If not, use a fan.

  • Civilization is much less civilized than nature.

  • If you want to find true friends, be yourself. If you want to find fake friends, be who they want you to be.

  • Sometimes you just have to make the effort to push the handle and open the door if you want to see the light outside your cell.

  • The hand you slapped today could have helped you tomorrow.

  • Misanthropy is love in disguise. Those who are full of love cannot accept the hatred and selfishness in human beings.

  • Sometimes good-bye is the step that liberates.

  • Sometimes you just have to say good-bye.

  • ​The sun rises with or without your approval.

  • The light is often where you least expect and where you probably cannot look too closely.

  • When all is said and done, close the door, and don’t forget to lock it.

  • The voice inside is more important than the voice outside.

  • Don’t say yes if it is no. Broken illusions hurt. Don’t say no if there is still the chance that it is yes. Hope gives strength, at least until it is defeated.

  • Nobody is worthy of hatred, not even the haters (who are just miserable people).

  • It’s not by telling others that their life is meaningless that your life acquires meaning.

  • Don’t ever – EVER – try to please those whose love is conditional.

  • Dance as if nobody is watching, but if you really want to sing and know you are not very good at it, do it in a private space.

  • Maybe bullies should be offered free courses in self-esteem – because low self-esteem is at the root of bullying.

  • If you swim with the stream, the waves cannot hug you.

  • If you ask for whom the bell tolls, you obviously don’t feel one with the universe.

  • If you give bullies attention, they will truly think that they are important. Why would you do that?

  • Money makes the world go round, but love makes it dance.

  • Keep your eyes open if you want to see the light.

  • Do your best, and if they don’t understand, have a good laugh.

  • Give without afterthoughts, or you won’t be really happy.

  • Happiness is temporary; joy can be permanent.

  • Hold the moment tight, but don’t use handcuffs.

  • Beware of people who keep telling you how unlucky you are and that they feel sorry for you.

  • You don’t need a four-leaf clover to be lucky. You are lucky if you are aware of who you are and of what you have.

  • Always keep the light on – not outside, but inside.

  • To hope or not to hope? That is the question.

  • Don’t ask for whom the birds sing. They also sing for you.

  • The heart’s song is not always in tune, but it is the song that keeps us going.

  • Don’t make Mother Nature angry. She has the right to discipline you if you err and hurt.

  • Don’t shout too loud, or they might not understand what you are saying.

  • Love should be what makes us truly human, and yet we are often beaten by animals.

  • Fortune is a game of chance; serenity is a choice.

  • Don’t hurt out of revenge. It might prove they were right.

  • Better a sunny day with sunglasses than a cloudy, gloomy day without them.

  • Self-confidence helps the world; ego destroys it.

  • Sadly, it’s society itself that brainwashes its citizens about the importance of money and of those who have money.

  • Nothing will save you from karma – nothing!

  • Evil people are just waving at bad karma – their choice!

  • Self-complacency is often the first step towards self-destruction.

  • Love before being loved; don’t hate after being hated.

  • The delicate shine of the moon can be just as powerful as the summer sun.

  • Here and now, not there and then.

  • Not being able to love is a debilitating disability.

  • The real winners are those who have the last laugh, even from the grave.

  • Common sense doesn’t add much spice to life.

  • No, you don’t have to open your mouth if you have nothing to say.

  • If you can’t sing, whistle.

  • Bullies are clowns in disguise.

  • Have you already said hello to the birds outside this morning?

  • If you forgive but are not forgiven, know that you have won big time.

  • Life discriminates against intelligent people, and that’s a huge problem.

  • We shouldn’t be good for a reward, but to see that it’s almost always the baddies who win is not exactly encouraging.

  • Time heals all wounds, but not all scars.

  • Whether a song touches your heart or not is up to you, but it certainly does not depend on whether it is in tune or not.

  • Your determination is more helpful with traumas than doctors (who mostly want to make money with you, and perhaps even worse, turn you into a second-rate normal).

  • Begging for love is begging for trouble.

  • Clowns are not only recognizable by make-up.

  • Colours are beautiful, but if you have talent for happiness you can also be happy in a black-and-white world.

  • Popularity contests are usually the least reliable.

  • If you want to hate, please yourself – hate, but be aware of the fact that by hating others you ultimately just hate yourself.

  • Hatred is the first step towards Armageddon.
